Last night I went out to dinner with a couple of my lady friends from my dinner club. We went to Le Bernardin in the city. Recent renovations caused this restaurant to close for the month of August.  But, I was able to make reservations on August 1st for September 24th, 2011. That’s right, there is a wait to get into the restaurant. And with all the weeks in between, the ladies and I were able to “prepare” in order to enjoy all the courses afforded with an individual meal at this “highly acclaimed” restaurant.

AMBIANCE: I must say that the ambiance was lovely.  And the Dress Code of, at minimum, business casual (where there are no jeans allowed and the men must wear a dinner jackets) made it more exciting and a good reason to “dress up”. This would be a nice place to be taken on an impressive date from your “significant other”. I would recommend it to anyone for the ambiance and sophistication that was evident in the restaurant.

FOOD: As for the food,  we all had the 4 courses dinner.  Most of the courses had the plating finished at the table.  I was not really a fan of the barely cooked first course but all the other courses were very tasty. Still trying to get over the $60.00 spent on bottled water, but it was all a part of the overall experience. [So just make sure you are prepared for the hefty price tag that comes along with dining in this establishment.]

…So I give Le Bernardin 3stars (out of 4).

All in all I would definitely recommend it to others as a great date place and I would go again. AND I’ll make sure I go easy on the water next time…
